Recreational opportunities abound in our region. Fishing, hunting, swimming, golfing, boating and team and individual sports are available. Motorcross training is a major draw for young riders wanting the best training camps, tracks and storage facility. Many winning racers have come from the training grounds in Cairo.
A current recreational project is the development of Tired Creek Lake for fishing and recreation.
Quality healthcare is available at Grady General Hospital, an affiliate of the regional Archbold Medical system. The hospital impacts economics also. A 2009 report showed Grady General Hospital’s local economic impact was nearly $40 million, including the creation or sustainment of 297 full-time jobs.
Higher education is nearby in Grady County. We are home to a Southwest Georgia Technical College campus, important to technical education for new industry. We are also in close proximity to Thomas University in Thomasville and numerous Florida institutions including Florida A&M and Florida State University.
